Wine provenance, condition and photography

A wine name and vintage do not fully describe a prize. A complete presentation should identify the bottles and allow their condition and available history to be assessed.

Identify the prize precisely

The description should state the wine name, vintage where applicable, bottle quantity and volume. An assortment needs a bottle-by-bottle breakdown. Original packaging should only be claimed when documented.

Review photography and condition

Clear images of the actual prize should show labels, capsules, visible fill levels and packaging. They should accompany a description of observed defects, without inferring one bottle’s condition from a photograph of another.

Understand provenance

Provenance describes the available information about a prize’s origin and history. Invoices and traceability records, where available, should be reviewed while protecting personal information. A storage history must not be invented to fill gaps in a description.

Current status of the three prizes

Published images are Christie’s references, not photographs of our stock. Bottle formats, condition and provenance are not yet publicly documented. Actual prize images and delivery conditions remain to be finalised before entries open.

Delivery and receipt

The rules must specify delivery areas, transport arrangements, any costs payable by the winner and the process for reporting damage on receipt. No delivery country or guaranteed timing should be assumed before those terms are published.
